It has been very difficult getting around the interior, so the stairwell was the next focus of our attention. I have done many stairs in my engineering career, but nothing as complicated as these winder stairs in such a confined space.
First “step” was to create the corner winder series of 3 steps…
View from the stairwell doorway in the living room going down to the lower bedroom.
Looking up the stairwell from the lower level that will be the utility room.
The handrails and steel lattice really tie things up and begin to bring the full look together.
View from the bathroom door across the stairwell to the living room. We are so excited with how the plan is coming together!!
View from the upper bedroom doorway on the 4th floor platform looking down the full height of the stairwell. The most complicated staircase I have ever done...I could not count how many times I went up and down the ladder cutting each piece, building these alone! I got the ladder out at the last moment before it became a permanent feature in the middle of the stairwell.
